Sheridan Student Union is a student-led organization and we are governed by a student-elected Board of Directors.
Students, like you, are voted in by peers to represent the interests of students.
As a member of the Board of Directors, you will:
✔ Be a voice for your fellow students, and help advocate for the best student experience at Sheridan College.
✔ Get paid to make your mark!
✔ Receive CCR credit for your work with the SSU
✔ Meet new people, make meaningful connections and make an impact together
✔ Get practical work experience and develop skills that will help you in your career

Important SSU Elections DATES
Elections are being held to elect the SSU Board of Directors FROM January 5 - March 25.
Here are the important dates you need to know:

Monday, January 5th, 2026 at 9:00 AM EST - Friday, February 6th, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST
What is Nomination Period?If you are interested in becoming a director and think the role is right for you, all you need to do is submit a completed nomination package by the deadline. This election nomination period is from January 5 - February 6. Please note, this is a strict deadline and cannot be extended.
Who can run in the SSU Elections?As long as you are a fee-paying member of the SSU and are 18 years old+ at the start of your term as director, you are eligible to run for our Board of Directors. There are 4 seats available per campus, and you must run at the campus out of which your program is based. Access our nomination guide

Wednesday, February 18th, 2026
This is a mandatory in-person meeting for all SSU Election candidates. Details will be sent to applicants selected to run in the SSU Election.
If your nomination package is approved and you are selected to be a candidate in the upcoming election, you must attend the All Candidates Meeting. All selected candidates will receive an email directly from the CRO with details about this meeting in advance. -
This is a new addition to our election process! Selected candidates will have the change to prepare materials, complete moudles and get support needed before their campaign week starts.

What is Campaign Week?5 days where students running in the SSU elections can attend events, meet students in the hallway, chat virtually and explain their platform, the student issues that are most important.
Why is Campaign Week important for candidates?
This is your chance to speak to students directly about your platform, listen to student concerns, and tell show how you are hoping to addresses their concerns once inside the board room. Essentially, this is the time to build awareness that you are running in the student election and tell students why they should vote for you.
Why is Campaign Week important for Sheridan students?
The Board of Directors consists of 12 elected students at Sheridan, 4 from each campus, who work together to make proposals on behalf of the student body. The decisions made by the Board will in time, impact student well-being, access and quality of education. If you are not running in student elections, campaign week is still important for you: Now’s the chance to meet with the students looking for your vote, hear more about their platform, ask questions and start to decide who you will vote for during voting week.

Who can vote in elections?Every full-time and part-time student will be able to vote for the number of vacant seats available for election in their constituency.
How can students vote in the elections?
Log into Simply Voting using your Sheridan Credentials and cast your ballot online.
Will students receive reminders during the voting period?
Be sure to keep your eyes on your student emails Sheridan! All the information on how to access voting, including a direct link, will be sent to your email throughout the voting period. Students can vote online form anywhere at any time by using the credentials found in your email.
Why should I vote in elections?
The Board of Directors approve where the SSU budget goes, and make decisions that directly impact your Sheridan Life (and the lives of future Bruins too). If you want access to more services, resources and opportunities that will support student needs, vote in the SSU elections. Your vote will help decide which students will work together, which students will listen to your feedback and which students will support student needs in the most effective way.

More about the role:
You will provide strategic corporate oversight to the Sheridan Student Union Inc.
Advocate for a better student life on behalf of over 25,000 Sheridan students
Oversee and manage the SSU President
Review and evaluate current and future opportunities to enhance the student experience.
Develop the long-term strategic vision for the SSU.
Approve the annual operating budget and student fees of the Sheridan Student Union.
